We're flying to Jakarta tomorrow afternoon. Karen and I say goodbye to each other at the Jakarta airport on Friday morning, and then she begins her long series of flights back to the U.S. I stay around Jakarta for the day and then mope my way back to Yogyakarta on the night train.
I have a small, newly-purchased TV in my living room to keep me company with bizarre Indonesian programs and the occasional Arnold Schwartzeneggar action flick. But somehow it's not going to be the same. :-(

Indonesian tv
Though he swears to have bought the tv to keep up on the news...Andy's two favorite programs are "Bule Gila" (okay, when I left he hadn't seen it yet, but it's a real show) a reality show in which white people are made to do "Indonesian" things (i.e. drive a rickshaw or sell something); and "Bule Masuk Kampung" a drama in which two white people played by Indonesian actors enter an Indonesian village and shake stuff up. In the episodes we saw blood and tears were key.Sponge Bob is high on my list...his Indonesian is pretty easy to understand. "Krabby Patty" is the same in both languages...go figure.
